A photographer spends the first minute of a shoot on things that have nothing to do with the camera: shoulders back, chin slightly forward and down, weight on the back foot. When a friend takes your photo, none of that happens.
What goes wrong without direction
Slumped shoulders, which round the upper back and shorten the neck. A tilted head that reads as uncertain rather than relaxed. Uneven shoulders from standing with weight on one hip. And the big one — a camera held below eye level, which foreshortens the face and emphasises the underside of the jaw.
What can be corrected afterwards
Posture within the frame is correctable. Straightening the back, levelling the shoulders and squaring the head are changes to how the body sits in a photo that already contains that body from that angle.
Camera height is not. A photo taken from below is a photo taken from below — the perspective is baked into every part of the image, and a tool claiming to move the camera afterwards is generating a new photograph rather than editing yours.
The practical fix for that one happens before the shutter: hold the camera at eye level or slightly above.
